Ping Transmit Failed Error Code 1231 Windows Vista Home Could Not Find Any Networks



The error message suggests you have a propblem with you IP configuration or settings or with TCP/IP. Jere's how to reset the TCP/IP Stack:

Go to the Start Menu, type cmd and right click or (Ctrl + Shift and hit Enter), and select "Run As Administrator"

Type the following commands, each followed by pressing enter.


  1. ·         ipconfig /flushdns
  2. ·         nbtstat -R
  3. ·         nbtstat -RR
  4. ·         netsh int reset all
  5. ·         netsh int ip reset
  6. ·         netsh winsock reset

  1. For Windows 7 and 8 I had to change command 4 to: netsh int ipv4 reset all. And though I got a failed for output line 5 that read "Resetting , failed" and output line 6 that read, "Access is denied", I continued to enter commands 5 and 6 which it took.

    netsh int 6to4 reset all
    netsh int ipv4 reset all
    netsh int ipv6 reset all
    netsh int httpstunnel reset all
    netsh int isatap reset all
    netsh int portproxy reset all
    netsh int tcp reset all
    netsh int teredo reset all

  4. Hi there, thanks for instructions and commands. It helped a lot in resolving my issue of Ping: Transmit Failed.
